My first ever run with a GARMIN. Interesting run in my neighborhood with tons of snow and ice on the roads. I made myself a pair of screw shoes with an old pair of asics. They worked nice with no slippage. |

2 miles (screw shoes) - 18:05
Very slow going on about 4" of semi-packed sidewalk snow. I decided to go out on my lunch break and use my Garmin for the second time. The snow was kind of like running on the soft sand at the beach. A lot of deep spots, but overall fun.

I was actually able to get outside with shorts and a long sleeve. Awesome weather.... about 34 degrees with sunny skies. A lot of melting going on which made it interesting puddle/slush jumping. Splits - 8:15, 7:57, 7:32, 7:22. |

First mile was @ 8:00 - 2nd @ 7:47 - 3rd @ 7:35 and the last mile was @ 6:58 first 1/2 and @ 6:40 for the last 1/2 mile. I'm going to get a haircut today as my afro was definitely slowing me down.

Great run.... very cold & joggy. I've read a lot lately about trying to build a substantial aerobic base by keeping the heart rate in certain zones. Even though I haven't received my heart rate monitor as of yet... todays pace felt nice & easy.

I'm still waiting for the heart rate monitor that didn't initially ship with my Garmin. I was trying to keep my pace close to 8 minutes per mile on this run.... we'll see what the data reveals when I strap on the monitor.

Good run, but super slow. I was trying to keep my heart rate in an aerobic zone as to build up my aerobic base. I guess I'll be running some high 8's and low 9's for a while. |
