I made a huge mistake and put off registering for the Sugarloaf Marathon.  With all the things that our money needs to go to, like bills, our children, food etc, I thought that I would be safe registering with over a month to go until race day.  Low and behold, when I checked the webstite yesterday, the marathon was full and registration was closed.  My heart immediately dropped, and I saw that there was a waitlist.  I put my name on the waitlist, and I am behind 40 other people just like me.  Needless to say, I can't wait not knowing if I will be able to run a Spring Marathon that aligns with my recent training.

Luckily, as I was scrambling to find another marathon, I found one on the exact same day as Sugarloaf in Nashua NH..... 30 minutes from my house.

I am so pissed at myself.  I have been training with the Sugarloaf course in mind, and have really been looking forward to running with Tom K. and Jim Maloy (my companies VP of IT)  These two guys are some of the best around and I have spent weeks thinking about drinking post race beers with them.

Anyways, I'm done crying about it and will have to do my best to take out my frustration on the Gate City Marathon course in NH .

Hey, i just saw this. Figures! You are more than race-ready, and have no bib. I am hoping just to finish, but have a bib.

p.s. Nashua to Sugarloaf by car is 4 hours 11 minutes. Just putting that out there. Ha!

I'm such an idiot.

Sorry, man. I didn't think it was the kind of race that ever sold out. At least you can put your solid training to work.

Bummer! One of these days Tom will need a Connecticut marathon or something and you'll get another chance. I assume all the states up there are within walking distance of each other, so it should be a piece of cake.

Jason, are you going to be there? I did promise you a beer, maybe two. You might have to wait a while after you finish, though.

From Jason D on Sat, Apr 16, 2016 at 08:30:30 from 68.80.27.222

I won't be. I decided a few weeks ago the timing would work and although I'm in very good endurance shape, I don't have any real marathon specific stuff and I think the race would likely not go well.

I'm going to hold you to those beer still though.

Good luck. As I told Deron, there's really no reason to be on pace until mile 10 after the last hill. From there, buckle up! I think I dropped 7 second per mile average after 10 miles in 2013.

So the reputation of the entire FRB blog is on my shoulders? Okayden.

It would seem that this course is set up so that I can finally achieve the negative split that the kids have been talking about. I can't seem to make that happen in an 800, a mile, or any other distance.

I'll have to check out the course profile for Derunzo's new race.

sorry about that. i'm glad there's an alternative, though. i spent some time in nashua last summer. seems like a nice place for a marathon course. my guess is a bit rolly with lots of shade?

From Derunzo on Sat, Apr 16, 2016 at 14:38:39 from 98.229.177.205

I think you're right Allie. Last year was the innaugural running of the marathon, and what I've seen of a couple of different elevation profiles is rolly.
