4.2 miles in 31:16. The alarm was set for 4:15 this morning. I put it across the bedroom so I had to get out of bed to shut the horrible thing off. If it weren't for the new running apparel that I received for Father's Day, I probably would have gotten back in bed. Anyways, I put on my new ultra-light/paper thin Nike Dri-fit shorts and headed out the door. Running down my street, I had to check if I remembered to put my shorts on.... felt like I was naked with these bad boys on.... awesome.
After getting into a groove and reaching the top of the first hill, I spooked a big deer and was immediately thankful to see such a beautiful animal to start my day. With a big smile on my face I continued on around the next bend in the road and scared another deer that was on the side of the road grazing on some flowers. This animal was not as swift as the first, and already being on the pavement, tried to bolt but couldn't get the traction it needed. Like myself on ice-skates, the deer flopped on its belly, regained its balance and took off into the woods. Sorry about that little lady.... next time I'll make more noise coming around the corner. I'm like a ninja when I run. |
